Domhnall Gleeson to star as villain in new Apple TV movie

He plays a local criminal who gets involved with a mother and daughter.

Domhnall Gleeson is set to join the cast of Apple Original Films’ Echo Valley alongside Oscar winner Julianne Moore and Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney, according to Variety.

The synopsis for the upcoming feature is as follows:

Reeling from a personal tragedy, Kate (Moore) spends her days boarding and training horses at Echo Valley Farm, 22 secluded, picturesque acres in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Late one night, her wayward daughter Claire (Sweeney) arrives at her doorstep, frightened, trembling and covered in someone else’s blood. From that simple premise, Echo Valley becomes a heart-pounding thriller about just how far a mother will go to save her child.

Gleeson plays Jackie, a local criminal who forces himself into Kate’s life, disrupting her quiet existence with secrets about her family.

The drama has an original screenplay by Mare of Easttown writer Brad Ingelsby and is produced by legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott and The Walsh Company. The film will be directed by BAFTA Award winner Michael Pearce.

The trio of actors have all had success recently. Sweeney shot to fame for her role as Cassie Howard in hit HBO show Euphoria and starred in the first season of The White Lotus, with both projects bringing her Emmy nominations. Moore most recently starred in Stephen King adaptation Lisey’s Story and 2023 crime thriller Sharper.

Gleeson is coming off the back of an excellent performance in the Disney Plus series The Patient, where he plays a serial killer who kidnaps his therapist, played by Steve Carell.

The Irish actor also stars in the highly-anticipated HBO miniseries The White House Plumbers, alongside Woody Harrelson and Justin Theroux, releasing next month. In the show, he plays John Dean, the former White House Counsel for U.S. President Richard Nixon.
