The announcement comes just a few hours after the musician released the latest single from his upcoming third album, ‘Unreal Unearth’, which is out on August 18.
‘Unknown / Nth’ is the latest single from the album alongside ‘Francesca’, ‘All Things End’ and ‘Eat Your Young’.
Speaking about the track, Hozier said:
“The title comes from the expression of an unknown but large number, i.e. ‘Nth.’ The song reflects on having your heartbroken by someone you trusted. You think you learned, and it happens again.
“It also recalls ‘Ninth’ or the 9th circle of treachery. The song throws away the old premise of angelhood. None of us are angels. We are all going to break someone else’s heart or hurt another person. Musically, there was a minimalist approach. In that cold empty place, something else happened.”
The singer added in a Tweet: “Thank you for your initial responses to this song. It started out as just a sketch, just a little video of me playing an idea which I uploaded to TikTok. Your collective response put a lot of wind in the sails of that song, as it were and I’m really really happy to share it early.”

Earlier this year Hozier announced his first Irish live date in four years for this summer. The Wicklow man will play Malahide Castle in Dublin on Friday, 30 June, where he will be joined by The Teskey Brothers as special guests.
“It’s always a joy to announce a show on home soil,” he said after the announcement.
