In the second video in his True Strength training series, Optimum Nutrition athlete Andy Cullen goes through the exercises that make up his legs workout.
Before starting any workout, it is absolutely imperative that you warm up properly first. For example, I warm up for five minutes on the cross-trainer at a steady pace to warm up my body and get my blood flowing.
Before training legs, I’ll do some light stretching and some light squats (just the bar, no weights), pausing at the bottom of the squat to loosen my hips.
Andy Cullen’s leg workout
Barbell Squats: 5 sets X 8-12 reps
Walking dumbbell lunges: 5 sets x 12 reps on each leg
Straight/stiff leg deadlift: 5 sets x 12 reps
NB: The first set of every exercise is always a warm up set.
