The 10 games that players most want to get a modern remaster

PS3 and Xbox 360 games come out on top of the remaster wish list.

Games are in their remaster era. Some of the biggest and/or best games of the last year or so have been the remaster, the remake or the re-release of some previously huge games, including Dead Space, The Last Of Us Part One, Resident Evil 4 and the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy.

With the current generation of consoles already gearing up for their own next iteration (more on that here), fans of classic games are beginning to look back into their own back catalogue to pick out which games they’d most like to see get the next-gen remaster treatment.

A data index created by CSGOLuck revealed the following list of the 10 games, with 2010 proving the most popular year for hopeful re-releases:

  1. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009)
  2. Assassin’s Creed (2007)
  3. Red Dead Redemption (2010)
  4. Assassin’s Creed II (2009)
  5. Grand Theft Auto IV (2008)
  6. Fallout 3 (2008)
  7. Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (2007)
  8. Call Of Duty: Black Ops (2010)
  9. Borderlands (2009)
  10. Halo Reach (2010)

Interestingly, there are three entries from the Call Of Duty franchise, despite the fact that the series has released a new game in the franchise every single year since 2005.

The same goes for Assassin’s Creed, which has had three huge games since its own style reboot – 2017’s Origins, 2018’s Odyssey and 2020’s Valhalla – with this year’s 9th century Baghdad-set Assassin’s Creed Mirage due to arrive this October.

On the top ten, CSGOLuck said the following: “It’s great to see that some of these classic PS3 and Xbox 360 releases are still getting play time even as we move into the era of modern consoles. It’s also fascinating to find which are firing up nostalgic gamers and being sought out, bought, downloaded, and played the most, so many years after their development and releases. We believe this shows just how important some of these games were to many of us growing up, and it will be very interesting to see which modern games will make a list like this in ten years time.”
