It’s rare nowadays for topics to have a clear-cut answer. But this debate has always been black and white: where do you keep your ketchup – in the fridge or the cupboard? There’s no sitting on the fence, no middle ground, no murky grey areas. We all know exactly where we stand on this one. And now the undeniable voice of authority on all matters of ketchup, Heinz, has waded into the debate to inform us what the right answer is – the fridge.

The research revealed that Sheffield residents are the worst offenders, with almost two-thirds (62 per cent) storing their ketchup in the cupboard. However, once open this can be affected by storage conditions. So, Heinz always recommends you pop it back in the fridge after use.
