An eclectic mix.
The CIA has released a new batch of files that were found on Osama Bin Laden’s computer and they’re available to view on their website. The al Qaeda leader was killed in 2011 and after the raid on his compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, various personal items were taken for investigation.
These included photographs of his family and his computers that the CIA has used to study the terrorist network.
The CIA state: “With the release of these materials, the information remaining in the collection that has not been released publicly includes materials that are protected by copyright; sensitive such that their release would directly damage efforts to keep the nation secure; pornography; malware; and blank, corrupted, and duplicate files. The entire collection has been available to the US Intelligence Community and Department of Defense organisations for years. ”
Hundreds of thousands of documents have since been released and the latest batch provides information about al Qaeda’s relationship with Iran. As reported by The Hill, one of these documents “details an arrangement between Iran and members of al Qaeda to strike American interests in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf. In exchange, Iran offered al Qaeda “money, arms” and “training in Hezbollah camps in Lebanon.”
Aside from these details regarding al Qaeda, the computers also contain plenty of Bin Laden’s personal information – mainly the videos that he had saved.
The terrorist leader had Charlie Bit My Finger, Mr. Bean and Wallace and Gromit downloaded among others.
