“This is the best game ever!!”
Joey Tribbiani had a number of failed auditions. He definitely wasn’t suited to some of them (think back to his attempts at learning how to speak French) but there was one that sticks out in the heads of Friends fans that we feel Joey was destined for. It is, of course, the host of the game show Bamboozled.
Bamboozled bore a striking resemblance to an iconic Irish show Quizone, which was equally hilarious and crazy.
In the episode, The One with the Baby Shower, Joey gathers his two best pals in an attempt to familiarise himself with the crazy rules of the game, with amazing consequences. Ross and Chandler agree reluctantly, but before long the three of them are utterly engrossed in the game. Have a look in case you’ve somehow forgotten:

Because the episode is such an undeniable classic, we have decided to take a look at the rules just to highlight how absolutely bonkers they were, but if you’re confident enough as it is, prove it by taking our Bamboozled quiz. Here they are, in all their glory:
Rules of Bamboozled
- The wicket wango card – which determines whether you go higher or lower… We never learn what exactly it allows you to go higher or lower than, but that’s beside the point.
- You have to hold your breath for one round, until the question is asked.
- The angel pass – which gives you a free turn.
- The gimme card – this enables you to take all of your opponent’s points.
- The possible backwards bonus – if you can answer a question correctly, and then repeat the answer backwards, you get bonus points.
- The ladder of chance to the golden mud-hut – We’re not quite sure about that one.
- Hungry monkey – again, not too sure…
- The wheel of fury – this determines the category of the next round.
- The hopping bonus – you receive the bonus if you hop while you answer the question, BUT you have to change legs each question.
- And when you’re bamboozled, you are eliminated.
