Movies on TV

It’s Monday.

Sound the celebration klaxon, we’ve made it to the last Monday of January.

Soon we shall be in February and shortly thereafter, March. It’s at that point you will begin to get reminders and prompts on your phone from our first lockdown last year.

Unfortunately, this new virus – which is not just a flu and is, in fact, far more serious – did not just magically disappear as some prominent politicians told us it would.

But here we are and on an individual level there’s not a whole lot we can do other than reduce our contacts and stay at home, so these are the movies on TV later to pass the night.

Mission: Impossible – Sky One – 9pm

A bit of a misleading title considering there’s six films in the franchise so the mission must not have been as impossible as advertised.

We’ve made contact with the ASAI over it and will let you know what they say back to us*.

Under Siege 2: Dark Territory – ITV4 – 9pm

Steven Seagal takes a break from the norm and shows his range by fighting terrorists in hand to hand combat… but on a train.

The sequel to the more than decent Under Siege. That took place on a boat though so it’s totally different.

Kevin and Perry Go Large – Comedy Central – 9pm

Spin-off of the popular television series sees Kevin and Perry go on a holiday and try to be famous rock stars while seeking girlfriends.

One critic wrote at the time: “The TV series was hiliarious…this is just damn embarrassing.”

Napoleon Dynamite – Comedy Central Extra – 9pm

Vote for Pedro.

All the Money in the World – Film4 – 9pm

Based on the true story of the kidnapping of Paul Getty by a left-wing paramilitary organisation in Italy in 1973.

Atomic Blonde – TG4 – 9.30pm

A very watchable spy thriller with James McAvoy and Charlize Theron the leads in what is a pretty good cast here.

The Bone Collector – Film4 – 11.40pm

Denzel Washington is the genius quadriplegic detective who teams up with rookie Angelina Jolie to catch a serial killer in Manhattan.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
