Here are the best movies on TV on Wednesday

Stephen Porzio

A great mix of older classics and newer gems on the TV tonight.

Met Éireann have confirmed it will be another wet and windy evening, so there is no excuse not to relax on the couch and watch one of these films tonight.

Taken – Film Four – 9pm

Liam Neeson tells the people who kidnapped his daughter he will look for them, find them, and kill them. He then does just that. Perfection.

Kingsman: The Secret Service – E4 – 9pm

Taron Egerton and Colin Firth kick ass in this very fun and violent send up of Bond flicks. A prequel is on the way soon.

Nightbreed – Horror Channel – 9pm

A troubled young man is drawn to a mythical place where a variety of friendly monsters are hiding from humanity. At the same time, a serial killer is looking for a patsy. Horror icon Clive Barker directs one of his own stories.

The Equalizer 2 – RTE One – 9.35pm

Denzel Washington returns in this sequel to the hit reboot of the classic 80’s crime show.

Looper – Sky One – 10pm

This inventive time travel flick sees Joseph Gordon Levitt’s hitman tasked with killing his future self, who is played by Bruce Willis in one of his better late career performances.

Space Cowboys – ITV4 – 10pm

Clint Eastwood directs and stars, alongside Tommy Lee Jones, Donald Sutherland and James Garner, in this adventure drama about four older ex-test pilots who are sent into space to repair an old Soviet satellite.

Point Blank – Turner Classic Movies – 10.45pm

After being double-crossed and left for dead, a mysterious man named Walker (Lee Marvin) single-mindedly tries to retrieve the money that was stolen from him in this lean and unbelievably cool 60s thriller. Quentin Tarantino and Steven Soderbergh are noted big fans.
