The brilliant TV show Vikings are looking for extras for filming in Ireland

Your big break?

Alan Loughnane

You can be a star… kind of.

Ireland has become a popular destination for many Hollywood productions, I mean, Game of Thrones films here. That’s before you even think that Star Wars have filmed on these shores as well.

Other popular shows such as Penny Dreadful, The Tudors and Vikings have had scenes shot in Ireland.

Season 6 of Vikings is set to start production very soon and they’re looking for thousands of people, from all ethnic backgrounds, to fill a variety of positions.

You will have to meet the following conditions however, if you want to get the role. Applicants must be over 16-years of age to apply, you must live locally and you must be a full time resident of Ireland. You must have a working visa and a PPS number.

They’re looking for people for a variety of roles such as fishermen, carpenters, craftspeople, farmworkers, axe men/women, skilled swords people, archers, bowmen & women, ship hands & deckhands, calligraphers, latin speakers, arab speakers, musicians, midwives, nurses, animal handlers, hunters, blacksmiths, lumber jacks, magicians, jugglers, tree surgeons and whittlers.

Males with all types of haircuts especially, long hair and beards, all sporty types, martial artists, boxers and no visible tattoos.

Women with all lengths of naturally coloured hair, all men should be prepared to grow hair and beards and they’re also looking for men and women with punk style haircuts.

Organisers stress that this is far from a definitive list of what they’re looking for but will give applicants a general overview of what they’re looking for.
