The cast of Fast 9 react to that Jurassic World crossover rumour

Rory Cashin

Ludacris and Tyrese have some particularly brilliant responses.

The fans wanted Han back.

Han is back.

The fans wanted the gang to go to space.

Some of the new movie is in space.

When it comes to the Fast & Furious franchise, it is obvious that the filmmakers are listening intently to what the fans want, and the latest swell of online support behind the vehicular madness series is a crossover with the Jurassic World franchise.

Both of the intellectual properties are owned by Universal, and with 2022’s Jurassic World: Dominion showing the dinosaurs now freely roaming the world at large, there are no longer any narrative restrictions in place to keep them apart!

Plus, the extended preview of the new Jurassic World movie playing ahead of IMAX screenings of Fast 9 is only adding fuel to the fans’ fires!

So when we sat down with some of the fast of Fast 9 ahead of the movie’s release, we had to know how they felt about this particular rumour.

First up, here is our chat with Ludacris:

When we put it to Ludacris, it turns out he hadn’t even heard this rumour before:

“Wait, please, sometimes the fans and the media tell us stuff that we never even heard!”

He then turned to his assistant at the end of our interview and said” “Can you please give this man two more minutes so he can explain to me what the hell he’s talking about? Because you’re probably right and I need to hear this. Where’d you hear this and what are you talking about?”

So we explained the background of the Fast & Furious x Jurassic World crossover, but he still seemed slightly stunned by the idea, saying the following:

“How do you cross that over? How do you cross dinosaurs over with present day… Alright, but listen, I appreciate you giving me that, I have no idea how to answer that question. I’m gonna be honest with you. I don’t know. Listen, anything is possible. It would be ludicrous if that happened.”

Wordplay. We love it.

And next up, here is our chat with Tyrese Gibson:

When we put the same question to Tyrese, he barely even blinked before responding:

“I think Fast and The Furious x Transformers would be a bigger mash up. It’s gonna be hard to, I mean we are in outer space, but it’s gonna be hard to make sense of us in cars and all that we do, mashing it up with dinosaurs.

“So good luck with that concept but I think Transformers has so many cars, you know, the same cars like what we have in our movie from Dodge, to this and that and I think it would be crazy to mash up the two. And then here at Universal Studios, it’s the Fast Ride and the Transformers the Ride, so it all makes sense. So, I hope that’s the mash up.”

Fast & Furious 9 is out in Irish cinemas on Thursday, 24 June.
