Casting is now open for the next season of The Young Offenders

Young Offenders

This would be a bit of a dream job.

The Young Offenders website has opened up an application form for people to submit self-taped auditions to be a cast member on the show.

The BBC comedy, made in conjunction with RTÉ, has been a super smash hit — and its second season is currently under production.

An announcement on the website read: “Please fill out the application form below. We will be in touch with further details if we find a character who you could be right for.”

In addition to all of their various life details, applicants are also asked to submit and introduction video, as well as a clip of them acting out a scene. The demo clip should be a minimum of two minutes long and performed in the actor’s own accent (whether or not its a Cork one).

It’s a good time to be a Young Offender at the moment. One of the show’s stars Chris Walley picked up Best Supporting Actor at the prestigious Olivier Awards last week.

The Cork native won the award for his role in Martin McDonagh’s The Lieutenant of Inishmore, which ran in the West End in 2018.

We don’t have a premiere date for the show’s second season yet, but maybe if you get the a part in the show you can leak it to us.
