Check out the Fund It project for new Irish film Volkswagen Joe

One man is forced to make a life-changing decision...

JOE

Volkswagen Joe is the film adaptation of the Brendan McCann award-winning play of the same name and, by getting involved in its Fund It scheme, you can help the film finally motor towards a cinema near you.

A terrible car-related pun we know.

Featuring a wealth of Irish talent who have been involved in top productions such as Hunger, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Love/Hate, Volkswagen Joe is set during the Troubles in the North in 1981. Directed by Brian Deane, the film tells the tale of a conflicted mechanic living in a border town who is forced to make a decision that will change his life forever. In a time of social upheaval, mistrust and religious division, everyone must pick a side.

The project was made possible by a peace and reconciliation fund called PEACE III with support from the Belturbet Drama Society and is being produced by TechnoWolf Films. The goal of the project was always to further develop the relationship between the political and religious communities both North and South and, as part of the filmmakers’ journey, they shot, cast and crewed up with amazing industry professionals and local people from all across the island.

With your help they will be able to finish what is already a beautiful film to the highest possible standards and help it to connect with audiences around the world.

The Fund It scheme has already raised almost 50% of the necessary funds and any additional contributions could help pay for digital colour grading, sound mixing, special effects and potential festival admin fees. Now, isn’t that a much better cause than buying your 8th packet of Bacon Fries at the bar this weekend you greedy bas*ard?
