It’s Derry Girls vs The Young Offenders in this TV poll to find what’s the better comedy

Paul Moore

Who gets your vote?

Cream horns on Pump Street or fresh fish from the English Market? Ma Mary telling Erin to wise up or Mairead telling Conor to fuck off? Sister Michael’s withering putdowns or Sergeant Healy’s relentless energy? The girls – and we English fella – stealing a noticeboard or Conor and Jock robbing a fish?

That moving finale of Derry Girls when we realise the awful realities of The Troubles or the tearjerking scene in The Young Offenders when we see that the lads are just misunderstood blagards that love their mams.

Ultimately, this poll from The Radio Times wants to know what’s better, Derry Girls or The Young Offenders.

As we’ve frequently stated before, we’re massive fans of both shows and that’s due to the award-winning writing and vision of Lisa McGee and Peter Foott.

Both of these incredibly talented people have managed to capture something that’s truly special, shows that depict the sense of humour that’s unique to Ireland but just like Father Ted, both shows have become international hits.

We’re absolutely delighted to see that we’re getting a second season of both shows but in terms of their debuts, it’s time to settle which one is better.

in fact, the cast from both shows have been championing their causes.

Wise up ya langer and get voting.
