Anyone who saw the most recent instalment of the dystopian, post-apocalyptic movie franchise has been coping with severe octane withdrawals – but this news should tide them over.
George Miller, the director of Mad Max: Fury Road (and, uh, Happy Feet), has confirmed that there are two more Mad Max films in the pipeline.
Speaking to TopGear.com, Miller said that the original film took so long to get to the big screen that they ended up with two new scripts that go into far more detail about the backstory of the largely unexplained world we saw in Fury Road.
“In this process, we had dug down deep into the backstory, not only of the characters, but of every vehicle. How the steering wheels became religious artefacts and things like that,” Miller told TopGear.com.
As long they can fit the backstory around another two-hours of car chases, explosions, and that guy who never stopped playing his flame-thrower double-guitar, that is fine by us.
