Domhnall Gleeson is the latest actor to join the cast for a new World War II pic Unbroken, which is being directed by none other than Angelina Jolie.

The Irish actor Domhnall Gleeson, best known for his roles in Never Let Me Go, Anna Karenina and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (and, of course, for being Brendan Gleeson’s son) will star opposite lead Jack O’Connell in Unbroken.

Unbroken follows the incredibly true story of Olympian-turned-POW Louis Zamperini and it will be Jolie’s second time directing a feature film.

O’Connell, best known for his role in the hit TV series Skins, is set to play Zamperini who was a part of the USA track team that competed in the 1936 Berlin Olympics.

The film follows Zamperini’s survival following a harrowing plane crash in the Pacific Ocean during WWII that saw him spending 47 days adrift in a life raft only to become a POW for two years in a Japanese prison camp.

As for Gleeson, he’ll play the role of Phil, who was also on the raft along with Zamperini.

The movie will be released around Christmas 2014 and it’s sure to be an interesting watch…
