“I was only in London for six hours. I was going to fly in, do the audition and come home.”
Actor and poet Emmet Kirwan told an exceptional story on The Late Late Show on Friday night about a chance meeting with his brother in London on 11 September, 2001.
Emmet was only in London for a few hours for an audition when the planes hit the Twin Towers and the Pentagon.
He had watched the second plane hit the World Trade Centre as people gathered on the street, and just after he left he turned the corner to find his brother.
They hadn’t seen each other for three years, his homeless brother living with heroin addiction, and amid the chaos of that day he describes how they managed to reconnect.
This is truly a phenomenal story.
