EXCLUSIVE: Talks have already started on Season 2 of The Haunting of Hill House

Netflix's horror hit looks set to return.

We've got some good news because talks have already started with regards to The Haunting of Hill House Season 2.

After consuming the lives of TV viewers over the weekend, Netflix's brand new horror show has definitely become a firm favourite of audiences and critics alike.

At present, Mike Flanagan's show has a rating of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes and as stated in our review, it's unlike most other horrors, especially in terms of its subject matter and commitment to character development.

If you haven't seen it yet, consider this to be your spoiler alert warning.

Haunting of Hill House Season 2

After Nell succumbed to the demonic 'Bent-Necked Lady' - more about that scene here-  and the curse of Hill House, we knew that the remaining episodes were going to be very unique.

Aside from being a bloody good scene, Nell's death by suicide also served as a pivotal plot device that interconnected the events of the past with those of the present.

As soon as that horrific event occurred, audiences started to second guess everything that they thought they knew about the tragic history of Hill House.

In sheer technical terms, the Haunting of Hill House was a treat and special praise should go to that magnificent episode that was set in Shirley' Crain's funeral home, Two Storms. In our interview with Michiel Huisman (Steven Crain), he told us that some of those takes took 18 minutes to film and that entire episode required an incredible amount of planning and rehearsal.

In the end, everything came together for a magnificent episode that was the pinnacle of a memorable show.

Ultimately, the secret of the Red Room was that it impacted every single member of the Crain family in a uniquely horrific way as the ghosts - both physical and supernatural - threatened to drive the Crains apart.

As the season ended, we learn that Hugh Crain (the father) sacrificed himself to protect his children from the evil that lies behind the Red Door but after previously being skeptical and frustrated by his dad, Steven has now assumed the responsibility of keeping the Crain family safe and the secret of Hill House hidden.

This being said, secrets and demons have a way of escaping.

When we caught up with Michiel Huisman (Steven Crain), he said that talks have already started with regards to The Haunting of Hill House Season 2.

"Well, you know what. Very early on, when we were still shooting this show, we had conversations about what a second season could look like and I think that one of the crazy things about Mike (Flanagan) is that he is an infinite well of ideas and stories.  I don’t think he ever sleeps! There are possibilities - if the show is a hit - to create a second season and still be in this world of Hill House," said Huisman.

In fact, the show might follow the direction that American Horror Story has championed-  making anthology entries and spin-offs.

Huisman adds: "But I could also totally see him (Flanagan) pitch an idea where we just do a spin-off. Film an anthology series and take it in a completely different direction. We have to wait and see. That’s one of the cool things about Netflix, they’re open to anything. We’ll wait and see."

In terms of the possible plot devices, we could see Annabeth Gish's character - the caretaker Mrs. Dudley - being a decent way of continuing the story in The Haunting of Hill House Season 2.

After all, she did spend her entire life taking care of the property and living near the haunted mansion.

Whatever direction the show takes, we're more than happy to be haunted again.
