It starts on RTÉ tonight. Don’t miss it.

After playing a droid in Solo: A Star Wars Story, the voice of Phoebe Waller-Bridge travelled across the galaxy but the talented writer/actor is familiar with that.

Since grabbing the world’s attention with her superb comedy Fleabag, Waller-Bridge has carved out an impressive CV and in her new show Killing Eve she has already received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series.

Okay, what’s the show about?

The murder-mystery revolves around two very distinct women.

One’s a psychopathic assassin and the other is a brilliant MI6 agent. Both are tasked with the same deadly mission: Find Her.

Eve (Sandra Oh) is a bored, whip-smart, pay-grade MI5 security officer whose desk-bound job doesn’t fulfil her fantasies of being a spy.

Villanelle (Jodie Comer) is a mercurial, talented killer who clings to the luxuries that her violent job affords her.

What happens when two equally driven people go head-to-head in a deadly game of cat and mouse?

Having watched the trailers, the relationship between both characters is similar to the strange one that exists in Luther between Idris Elba’s DCI and Ruth Wilson’s cold-blooded killer, Alice Morgan.

Since airing in the US, the show has  been nominated for two Emmy Awards and become a critical darling – at present, it holds 83% on Metacritic and 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.

What’s even more impressive is that Season 2 of the show has also been given the green light

Find out why when the first two episodes of Killing Eve premiere on RTÉ 2 at 21:30 this Monday 27 August.

If you’re still sitting on the fence about watching it, these reviews might just sway your mind.

TV Guide – “Killing Eve breathes new life into a familiar genre.”

The Hollywood Reporter – “Killing Eve is relentlessly engaging and surprising where it’s least expected, making for the next must-see show of 2018.”

LA Times – “It’s a witty and lively show, fast-paced and suspenseful when it needs to be but not afraid to slow down and let people talk, or to bumble amusingly.”

The Guardian – “Slickly made and mightily entertaining, Killing Eve brings a new energy to the well-worn game of cat-and-mouse staged by many a murder mystery.”

Variety – “Killing Eve is attempting something rare, wild and risky. It may not always hit its chosen targets, but it’s usually entertaining to watch it try.”
