Fantastic news as The Young Offenders commissioned for six-part television series

Rudi Kinsella

“I’m trying to find something wrong with your plan.”

Nope, can’t. This is gonna be class.

Conor and Jock are taking their adventures to the small screen, having been commissioned for a series by BBC Three and BBC Comedy, in association with RTÉ.

Originally a feature film, The Young Offenders followed two Cork lads, Conor MacSweeney (Alex Murphy) and Jock O’Keefe (Chris Walley), on a 160-km road trip on stolen bikes, in the hopes of finding a ridiculous amount of cocaine.

Eddie Doyle, RTE’s head of comedy has said: “Peter Foott has created something really special with The Young Offenders, and we’re absolutely delighted to be supporting the TV version. It is fantastic to see young, home-grown Irish talent, take the next step to international TV success.”

The series will be set in Cork, and will begin production in the rebel county this Summer. If it’s anything like this, we can’t wait.
