Some very interesting choices here.

While Season 8 of Game of Thrones never hit the standards of previous seasons, the show has been nominated for a record-breaking 32 Emmys, including Outstanding Drama Series, where it will be up against Killing Eve, Ozark, Better Call Saul, Bodyguard, Pose, Succession, and This Is Us.

As for the Thrones cast, there are individual nominations for Emilia Clarke (Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series), and Kit Harington (Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series), while Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Peter Dinklage, and Alfie Allen will all compete for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

Lena Headey, Maisie Williams, Sophie Turner and Gwendoline Christie, meanwhile, have also all been nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

The fantasy drama has also received nods in the sound, visual effects, costume, make-up and casting categories. Thrones already holds the record for most Emmys won by a comedy or drama, with 47 wins in total since the first season.

After impressing audiences and critics alike, it should come as no surprise to learn that Chernobyl has received 19 Emmy nominations in total.

Craig Mazin’s show is up for Outstanding Limited Series, Jared Harris has been nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie, while Emily Watson and Stellan Skarsgard also picked up nominations in the Outstanding Supporting Actress/Actor in a Limited Series categories.

Chernobyl will be up against Escape at Dannemora, Fosse/Verdon, When They See Us, and Sharp Objects for the title of Outstanding Limited Series.

Netflix earned 117 Emmy nominations this year, including 16 nods for When They See Us, while HBO’s 137 nominations were the most in the channel’s history.
