Game of Thrones had a sex scene that was almost too much for Maisie Williams’ parents

They’re grand with Arya slaughtering people though. Proper order.

It’s fitting that the first and most recent episodes of Game of Thrones both feature riding. Well, they did.

In the very first episode, we see Cersei, Robert Baratheon, Jaime and the rest of the Lannister/Baratheon party riding into Winterfell as they get set to meet the Starks. As for the Season 7 finale, we see Jon and Dany riding along the ocean waves as they head to White Harbor.

Ah, who are we kidding?

Trying to skip around the fact that Game of Thrones features sex is like asking The Hound not to eat every chicken in the room before killing any fools that dare to get in his way.

Over the course of seven seasons, we’ve been treated to some incredibly strange sex scenes in the beloved show but to their immense credit, the cast are more than happy to talk about them.

On the issue of Grey Worm being castrated but still having sex with Missandei, Jacob Anderson has previously said: “I think Grey Worm’s got a willy is my understanding. But he doesn’t have balls,” while Gemma Whelan also addressed that particular scene where she’s getting groped by her on-screen brother, Theon (Alfie Allen)

All this without mentioning the whole Jaime-Cersei thing. See, it’s a liberal show.

Anyway, during a recent interview with The Australian, Maisie Williams was happy to chat about the fact that one sex scene in Game of Thrones was almost too much for her parents to watch.

The extract reads: “Williams’ and [Sophie] Turner’s mothers stopped shielding them from the show’s graphic sex and violence early on, when they debated taking the girls out of a read-through of a scene featuring two girls “going at it” — trying to keep their daughters in the dark only served to pique their interest… ‘Most of the gory stuff I was part of, and it’s not scary when you’re there shooting it. No one’s really getting their face ripped off. So it’s quite exciting really,’ said Williams.”

The scene in question of two girls “going at it” is from the seventh episode of the first season.

In the episode “You Win or You Die,” you might remember a fairly graphic scene where two characters that are sex workers (Ros and an unnamed woman) effectively “audition” for jobs in Petyr Baelish’s brothel by performing sex acts on one another.

During the same interview, Williams also said that she has “watched many episodes on the sofa next to her grandmother” but she has a trick to avoid any embarrassment – making sure she gives her gran copious amounts of gin.

A girl must be learning that trick from someone.
