We’re all going to be watching this ‘unpredictable’ chat show on RTÉ tonight

Tommy Tiernan goes from guest to host, and there’s a twist.

Having made regular appearances on chat shows over the last 20 years, comedian Tommy Tiernan is finally getting his own gig as the host of ‘The Tommy Tiernan Show,’ which starts on Thursday night on RTÉ One.

And there’s a twist – Tiernan will not know who he’s interviewing until they appear in front of him.

The Navan man said, “One of the great things about the old Late Late Show was not knowing who the guests were until they appeared on screen, it kept the whole thing lively, so I just thought, well how would it be if the host didn’t know who they were until they walked out either.

“Doing it in front of a live audience is the key for me, it all seems like good unpredictable fun.”

Tiernan himself admits that the show has the potential to be an absolute disaster, but this unique format is bound to gain a massive viewership given the spontaneous nature of the show and the comic abilities of one of Ireland greatest ever stand-ups.

The Tommy Tiernan Show incorporates stand-up, live music, sketches and conversation, and will be shown on RTÉ One at 10.15pm.
