Graham Norton perfectly describes the British attitude towards Brexit

Paul Moore

Graham Norton

Nail. Head. Hit.

Given the fact that Brexit is an issue that completely divided the U.K. – again, Northern Ireland voted overwhelmingly to remain in the E.U by 56% to 44% – it’s clear that the lines have been drawn and the hardliners – on both sides – aren’t going to give an inch.

This being said, the real frustration, especially from an Irish perspective, is the complete and utter failure of certain British MPs to understand the most basic points when it comes to Anglo-Irish relations.

FYI, despite what Arlene Foster might say, the Good Friday Agreement actually is kind of sacrosanct because it curtailed decades of bloodshed in the north. Oh yeah, it might also help if the UK’s Minister for State for Immigration, Caroline Nokes, actually read the document.

In recent weeks, we’ve heard David Davis, the former Brexit secretary, state that it’s possible to “buy a pint in Belfast in Euros, or you can buy a pint in Dublin in pounds.” As for Boris Johnson’s idea about building a bridge, well, that’s not even worth a rebuttal because there are far more important – and serious – questions to answer.

Patrick Kielty has a few good suggestions for any British politician that’s out of the loop on the border issue and why it’s vitally important.

On that note, Dara Ó Briain recently highlighted the ignorance of some British people over the border and Graham Norton weighed in with his own comments.

Speaking about the fact that some pro-Brexit politicians seem intent on pushing to leave the E.U, he said: “At this point, everyone knows it’s a bad idea but there’s something very British – and just kind of, well – ‘I said, I was hungry enough to eat my foot, so I’m going to eat my foot.’

Take a look.
