movies on TV

You did it.

You made it halfway through the week. And you deserve a reward.

Your reward? Some genuinely decent movie picks on the telly this evening.

Here’s what we’re dealing with:

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues – 9pm – Film4

Anchorman 2 is a damn good movie and this writer will not be told otherwise.

Bridge of Spies – 9pm – Channel 4

A lawyer in 1950s New York is hired to represent a Soviet spy in a showcase trial. Nominated for a best picture Oscar, and it’s definitely the pick of the bunch this evening. Tom Hanks at his best.

Easy A – 9pm – E!

Teen comedy starring Emma Stone, Penn Badgley and Amanda Bynes, that is definitely better than you’d expect it to be.

Jihad Jane – 9.35pm – RTÉ One

A documentary about two American women who went looking for love online, got arrested, and soon became the “new face in the war on terror”.

Gone in 60 Seconds – 10.35pm – ITV4

Nic Cage and Angelina Jolie star in a forgettable thriller that might keep you entertained for an hour or so if you’re staying up late.

Training Day – 11pm – TCM

Worth watching for Denzel alone really…

Ted 2 – 11.20pm – Film4

Not as good or funny as the first one, but still good for a laugh or two.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
