Staying in tonight?

There is still an awful lot of uncertainty surrounding what is going on in the world, so where else would you find greater comfort than on your couch, watching a movie?

And if that sounds appealing to you, here are the best choices you have tonight (if you don’t fancy tuning in to a relegation battle between West Ham and Watford that is).

The Theory of Everything – Sky Atlantic, 9pm

Fantastic biopic of the life of Stephen Hawking, starring the magnificent Eddie Redmayne. Definitely the pick of the bunch tonight.

Bad Neighbours 2 – Channel 4, 9pm

A fairly funny comedy starring Seth Rogen, Zac Efron, Rose Byrne and Chloe Grace Moretz. Definitely good for a few laughs, and there’s no need to have seen the first one either.

The Shepherd of the Hills – TG4, 9.10pm

The people of a remote mountain community face being driven from their land until they receive help from a mysterious stranger. The legendary John Wayne’s first film in colour too.

Nice little fact for you there.

Damascus Cover – RTÉ2, 9.45pm

Starring Ireland’s own Jonathan Rhys Meyers as a spy who quickly discovers that he is in way over his head.

Royce – Virgin Media One, 11pm

Action comedy starring James Belushi and Chelsea Field, where agents kidnap a senator’s son for shutting down their super secret government department.

Carrie – TCM, 11pm

Far too scary for this writer, especially at 11pm, but it’s there for you if you want…
