movies on TV

Some very good picks here.

Let’s just get straight into it, we’ve got some good movies to choose from tonight.

Take your pick from the following.

Storks – RTÉ One – 6.35pm

Animated adventure about a world where storks now deliver everything but babies, starring Andy Samberg, Kelsey Grammer and Katie Crown. Fun.

Life of Pi – Channel 4 – 6.55pm

This Oscar winning hit sees 16-year-old Pi Patel try to find a way to survive in a lifeboat that is adrift in the middle of nowhere. A beautiful movie.

Casino Royale – UTV – 8.30pm

The name’s Bond, James Bond. Played by Craig, Daniel Craig in his first performance as 007.

Baywatch – Film4 – 9.00pm

Dwayne Johnson stars alongside a load of other beautiful people (Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, Priyanka Chopra), in a comedy where the aforementioned beautiful people wear very little clothes, what with them being on a beach a lot.

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol – E4 – 9pm

Fun to watch Tom Cruise do a load of crazy stunts in what is a surprisingly great movie.

Billy Elliot – BBC Four – 9.15pm

Billy wants to box instead of doing ballet, his dad is not too happy about it. You’ll cry, you’ll laugh, and you might even dance along in your sitting room if you’re feeling it.

Van Helsing – Sky One – 9.15pm

Hugh Jackman heads for Transylvania to help a gypsy princess destroy evil bloodsucker Count Dracula and bring his reign of terror to an end. Not great, if we’re being honest with you.

Sully – RTÉ One – 9.45pm

The pick of the bunch tonight. A brilliant film about real-life pilot Chesley ‘Sully’ Sullenberger, whose 2009 emergency landing of US Airways Flight 1549 on the Hudson River caught the eyes of the world. Tom Hanks at his best.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
