Having a movie night tonight?

Right, we’ll come right out and say it, today’s options are definitely not the best. They’re not awful by any means, but they’re not the best.

Come on, it’s a Thursday. Not a night that’s exactly synonymous with chilling and watching a movie.

But if you do plan on checking out a film on the box tonight, here are the best options.

Rocky Balboa – 9pm – ITV4

The sixth Rocky movie, wherein an aged Mr Balboa returns to the ring to fight the current champion of the world. A good (and quite inspiring) movie if you’re able to suspend belief for an hour or so…

22 Jump Street – 9pm – Comedy Central

The sequel to the hilarious 21 Jump Street, starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum. The two lads have definite chemistry, but it’s sadly not as good as the first. Still good for a few laughs though.

The Pelican Brief – 9pm – TCM

Based on the classic John Grisham novel, a law student uncovers a conspiracy, putting herself and others in danger. Very good early ’90s fare with Denzel Washington and Julia Roberts.

Becoming Jane – 9pm – BBC Four

Star-studded movie about a young Jane Austen, featuring Anne Hathaway, James McAvoy, Julie Walters and Maggie Smith.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit – 9pm – Film4

CIA analyst Jack Ryan uncovers a dark plot to crash the US economy with a terrorist attack. Starring Chris Pine, Kevin Costner, Kenneth Branagh, and Keira Knightley, it’s not spectacular, but not terrible either.

Kill Chain: The Cyber War on America’s Elections – 10.10pm – Sky Documentaries

A documentary showing a hacker expose the vulnerabilities of election systems in America.
