Some very good choices here for a Monday.

Ah, Monday. The weekend is gone, and we have began a new chapter.

And while you may associate Mondays with dreariness, we’ve actually got some very decent movies on the box tonight, if you’re looking for a way to spend the evening.

Here’s what we’re dealing with.

Paddington 2 – 6.25pm – BBC One

One of those rare occasions where the sequel is much better than the original.

Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again – 8pm – UTV

We could all do with some ABBA to brighten up our Monday night.

Zoolander – 9pm – Comedy Central

An all-time great comedy. Ben Stiller’s best movie? Discuss…

The Martian – 9pm – Film4

Matt Damon is stranded on Mars, and has to survive for years on resources that are only supposed to last him a month. A very good watch.

Forrest Gump – 9pm – Sky One

“My mama always said, ‘Life was like a box of chocolates’.” An absolute classic.

Steve Jobs – 9.30pm – TG4

Danny Boyle’s biopic of the technology entrepreneur sees Michael Fassbender, Kate Winslet and Seth Rogen all star in a fascinating film.

The Silver Branch – 10.45pm – RTÉ One

The government decides to build a tourist centre in The Burren, Clare, but the locals are NOT having it.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
