House of Cards has added two Oscar-nominated actors to its cast

Paul Moore

The show continues.

After Kevin Spacey was fired from the cast of House of Cards late last year, the show was immediately suspended.

Spacey, who played Frank Underwood in the show, has been accused of making unwanted sexual advances towards fellow actor Anthony Rapp in 1986, when Rapp was just 14 years old and Spacey was 12 years his senior.

A few weeks ago, Netflix stated their plans to continue with a new season of the show and they’ve announced two new cast members for the sixth and final season.

Academy Award-nominated actors Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear will join the cast for the upcoming episodes.

Lane and Kinnear join Golden Globe winner and Emmy Award nominee Robin Wright, as well as Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkinson, Patricia Clarkson, Constance Zimmer, Derek Cecil, Campbell Scott and Boris McGiver in the final season.

Since being launched, the political thriller has received 53 Emmy nominations, with seven wins – including the first major Emmy for a streaming service for David Fincher’s win for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series.

It also received six Golden Globe nominations and two wins. At present, no premiere date for the new episodes has been given.
