Hugh Grant’s secret to a successful marriage is pretty bloody dodgy

Carl Kinsella

We can’t really recommend taking the man’s advice on this one.

Hugh Grant is famous for his role as the awkwardly charming Prime Minister in Love Actually, the charmingly awkward book-shop owner in Notting Hill, and the awkward-slash-charming guardian of a child in About A Boy.

When it comes to the characters he portrays, his prowess with the ladies is unquestionable. However, the man has never married in real life. This raises a few eyebrows when he expresses his admiration for people who have affairs inside wedlock.

Speaking to Howard Stern, Grant said:

“I always admire the French and the Italians who are very devoted to their marriages. They take them extremely seriously, but it is understood that there might be other visitors at 5 o’clock in the afternoon.”

“You just never boast about. They never say anything, but that’s what keeps marriages together.”
