What a day for Westmeath.
Already one of the most popular shows on the BBC, the appeal of Pointless is likely to soar even higher for viewers with the appearance of a legendary Irish music duo in the near future.
According to the Westmeath Examiner, Foster and Allen, stalwarts of the Irish music scene since the mid-1970s, will feature on a show where contestants try to provide the most obscure answer possible to questions that have been posed to the British public.
How (Mick) Foster and (Tony) Allen, who have recently returned from a tour of Australia, ended up on the show isn’t clear, but reports suggest that their appearance has already been filmed and will be broadcast in the near future.

“We recently appeared on the BBC quiz programme Pointless, you know, the one presented by that fella Alexander Armstrong,” Tony Allen is quoted as saying in the Westmeath Examiner.
“Apparently, it’s the second-most-watched programme on BBC after Strictly Come Dancing,” he added.
No doubt viewers on this side of the pond will tune into their droves to see the lads on screen; fingers crossed it won’t end up like this…
