James Bond actors pay tribute to Roger Moore

From Bonds with love.

Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig have all paid tribute to their fellow James Bond star, Roger Moore, who died at the age of 89.

Moore died in Switzerland on Monday after a “short but brave battle with cancer.”

Connery, the first man to play the debonair 007, said in a statement: “I was very sad to hear of Roger’s passing, we had an unusually long relationship by Hollywood standards, that was filled with jokes and laughter.”

The 86-year-old added: “I will miss him.”

In an apparent reference to the theme of Sir Roger’s The Spy Who Loved Me, current James Bond, Daniel Craig, wrote: “Nobody Does It Better – love Daniel,” which was posted on the official James Bond Twitter account.

Craig, who has played Bond since 2006, took over from Irishman Brosnan, who served a seven-year stint in the suit. Brosnan described Moore as “magnificent.”

He posted a photo on his Instagram account which read: “It is indeed with a heavy heart that I hear the news of your passing this morning.

“You were a big part of my life, from The Saint to James Bond.. .you were a magnificent James Bond and one that lead the way for me, the world will miss you and your unique sense of humour for years to come.”

Brosnan then posted a picture of Moore with his wife Cassie…

George Lazenby, who starred in just one Bond film, 1969’s On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, was the first of the five remaining Bonds to pay tribute to Roger Moore.

Speaking exclusively with Express.co.uk, the 77-year-old admitted he didn’t know Sir Roger that well, but did meet him a few times, highlighting his good nature.

Lazenby said: “He was one of the good guys and will be missed by many. I know he was loved by his family and many others.”
