The neo-Western thriller has been compared to Rio Bravo.

Jericho Ridge, a 2023 neo-Western thriller with a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, is airing on TV tonight (Wednesday, 28 January).

Set in a remote American town, the movie stars Nikki Amuka-Bird (Old, The Outfit) as Tabby, a deputy sheriff who finds herself alone in the sheriff's office one night while her colleagues are out on patrol.

When the station comes under siege by a murderous drug cartel, Tabby must battle desperately to save both herself and her teenage son (Zack Morris, EastEnders).

Co-starring Chris Reilly (Slow Horses), Michael Socha (Toxic Town) and Simon Kunz (F1), Jericho Ridge has earned strong reviews from critics.

The way writer-director Will Gilbey (making his feature debut) takes Western storytelling beats and adapts them to a modern setting was particularly singled out for praise, along with Amuka-Bird's lead performance.

Take One Magazine: "Jericho Ridge understands the pure thrill of a well-executed standoff, and at 88 minutes, never once lets the pace drop. It is hard to ask for more."

The Wee Review: "Will Gilbey‘s directorial debut doesn’t stray far from John Carpenter’s template of a contemporised siege western, but hits every beat of this taut chamber piece with economic precision."

Jericho Ridge is airing on TV tonight on the channel Sky Max at 9pm. It is also currently streaming on NOW.
