Trump on The Tonight Show was always going to be interesting.
US presidential nominee Donald Trump was a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and the Republican candidate spoke freely about his health, poll numbers and disdain for the media. The segment of the interview that has been the most discussed though is “hair moment” when Fallon tussled Trump’s barnet.
Fallon asked Trump if it was ok to do something “that’s just not presidential … something we can do now that we’re both just civilians” and Trump agreed. Take a look.

While skits and segments like this are a regular feature on The Tonight Show – in fact, Fallon even took the mickey out of Trump before – some people still felt that the light-hearted moment wasn’t acceptable because it humanised Trump.
Some people argued that Fallon missed an opportunity and was soft on Trump while others felt that he was just doing his job, providing entertainment.
I don't fault Jimmy Fallon for not being a journalist. I do fault him for his willingness to serve as hell's court jester.

There were plenty of people who felt that Fallon was just being his normal self.

People will criticise Jimmy Fallon for giving Trump an easy time, but Fallon will be the only late night host to survive Trump Purge Night.
