JOE meets David Breashears, the man who has conquered Everest five times

You read that correctly. FIVE times.

Eoghan Doherty

What a man.

Not JOE. The other guy, David Breashears.

Breashears is an American mountaineer and filmmaker who has reached the summit of Everest an incredible five times.

Just let that sink in for a moment. Five. Times.

We don’t mean to crush your confidence, but that is, quite literally, a way better achievement than anything you will likely do in your entire life.

Everest 2

As well as conquering some of the world’s highest summits all across planet earth, Breashears is also the man who transmitted the very first live pictures from the peak of Mount Everest.

Universal Pictures are releasing Everest in Irish cinemas on Friday 18 September and to celebrate the truly spectacular film, we talked to the inspiring Breashears about the fantastic new flick, the skill it involves to successfully wrangle a yak, and we really wanted to know does he ever get tired of the view from the top of the world’s highest peak.

Probably not.

Everest is based on the incredible true events surrounding an attempt to reach the summit of Earth’s highest mountain in 1996, and is packed full of hair-raising and heart-stopping moments.

Trust us, we’ve watched it twice already and we’re still trying to catch our breath after seeing the film in its full IMAX glory.

Enjoy…
