Borgen – TG4, 11pm

We’ve already gone into detail on our love of foreign language dramas this week and it is simply a happy coinicidence that one of our favourites, Borgen, starts from the beginning on TG4 tonight.

A show all about Danish politics and media doesn’t exactly get the blood racing but when a show is so well crafted, with so many believable characters, acting in believable ways, it simply pulls you in. Centred around a party leader called Birgitte Nyborg (below) and starting in the aftermath of a complex election, you are immediately plunged into the convoluted, and often dirty, world of Denmark’s ruling classes.

The show also brings you into the lives of the main characters away from their jobs and this aspect is often just as messy as their work, really allowing you to feel you know the characters. Series Three has just finished on BB4 but if you missed it, this is a great chance to get in at the start.
