From the creator of MobLand, the upcoming crime thriller is a prequel to a hit Netflix show.

Keoghan's five-part prequel show is titled Jonny Boy. It will see the Irish Oscar-nominee reprise his role as Jonny McGee, a high-ranking member of the Irish mob who distributed drugs in London.

He initially played the part in the first three episodes of Top Boy's final season.

Jonny Boy will be written and directed by Ronan Bennett, who also created Top Boy, as well as the Tom Hardy-starring series MobLand.

Director Ali Abbasi (the Donald Trump biopic The Apprentice) will direct the five-part prequel.

On top of this, Netflix has greenlit Jaq (working title), another Top Boy spin-off focusing on the titular character, played by Jasmine Jobson in a BAFTA-winning turn.

The actress will reprise her role as the Summerhouse gang member in the upcoming show, which is created and written by Ryan Calais Cameron.

Top Boy starred Ashley Walters and Kane Robinson as drug dealers Dushane Hill and Gerard 'Sully' Sullivan, who ply their trade in the fictional Summerhouse estate in the London Borough of Hackney.

The series initially premiered in 2011 on Channel 4, where it ran for two seasons. Though cancelled by the network in 2014, Top Boy was later revived by Netflix, with three more seasons released in 2019, 2022 and 2023.

Filming will commence on the Top Boy spin-offs Jonny Boy and Jaq in 2027.
