Forget about Bohemian Rhapsody because here is the trailer for the Lou Bega biopic

Rory Cashin

“I’m sorry, I’m all out of Mambos.”

In case you didn’t know, movies about or including musicians are super hot right now.

Having broken $800 million worldwide, Bohemian Rhapsody is now the highest-grossing musical biopic in cinema history.

With a little over $410 million worldwide (and counting, at the time of writing), A Star Is Born has now surpassed The Bodyguard to become the highest ever grossing movie to star a musician.

This summer sees the release of the Elton John biopic Rocketman, starring Kingsman and Robin Hood star Taron Egerton in the title role.

Following in the footsteps of Mamma Mia!, there are currently two movies in production set to feature and be based around the music of much-loved artists: one about Prince, and one about George Michael.

There’s even a movie in development about Michael Jackson’s monkey, Bubbles.

So who would you like to see get the big screen treatment next?

David Bowie? Madonna? Eh… Lou Bega?

Well, 30 Rock star Tracy Morgan and talk show host Jimmy Kimmel have kind of beaten you to that last one, as they put together this comedy trailer for the life story of the singer of ‘Mambo No.5’ and, uhm, (looks up Wikipedia) ‘You Wanna Be Americano’.

Morgan does a great job of embodying the singer, from his Zoolander-esque relationship with his father, through to the failed attempts of Mambos numbers one through four.
