Louis Theroux Altered States trailer

Not long to go now.

Anticipation for the grand return of Louis Theroux to our TV screens is at fever pitch.

Having first teased new documentary series Altered States in September, Theroux is poised to get inside our heads and shake things up once again.

The new three-part project is set in America and will focus on assisted suicide, adoption and polygamy, and it looks like it could be a return to Weird Weekends form.

“I have always been interested in how people conduct the most intimate aspects of their lives,” said Theroux.

“For this series we looked at the new ways Americans are approaching some of humanity’s oldest dilemmas: pregnant mums who feel unequipped to keep their babies and so pick new parents for them; the world of polyamory aka ‘ethical non-monogamy’; and people with debilitating conditions who opt to hasten their own deaths.”

Altered States’ episodes titles include Take My Baby, Love Without Limits and Cheating Death.

The new series will officially be unveiled on 4 November on BBC Two.
