WATCH: Marvel’s God of Mischief is back in the new trailer for Loki

Stephen Porzio

We are already in love with Owen Wilson in this.

While we are only halfway through the first season of Disney+/Marvel series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, fans of the MCU have been given a bigger sneak peek of what’s next on the horizon.

An official trailer for Loki has dropped online, which will be the next Marvel show to be released on Disney+ after The Falcon and the Winter Soldier finishes up its first season.

As you can probably guess from its title, Loki will continue the adventures of Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief.

The brother of Thor, the character of Loki has appeared in six of the MCU films – often as a villain, but occasionally as an anti-hero.

While official plot details for Loki are being kept under wraps, the trailer suggests that after a younger version of the title character stole the all-powerful Tesseract in Avengers: Endgame, he created an alternate, unstable timeline.

As such, he is captured by the Time Variance Authority (TVA), an organisation that monitors the multiverse and can prune timelines if they’re deemed too dangerous to exist, who force Loki to help them fix the problem he created.

Owen Wilson will also co-star in the series as Mobius M. Mobius, a TVA bureaucrat in charge of Loki – whose chirpy demeanor and dry wit in the trailer looks set to be a highlight.

Also appearing in the six-part series is Gugu-Mbatha Raw (The Morning Show), Richard E. Grant (Logan) and Sasha Lane (Hellboy), while Michael Waldron of Rick and Morty fame is on board as writer.

Based on the epic and weird trailer available to watch below, those who loved the more psychedelic elements of WandaVision are probably in for a treat.

Loki will land on Disney+ on Friday, 11 June.

Meanwhile, read a JOE theory about the series here.
