All good things must come to an end.

Peaky Blinders creator, Steven Knight, has confirmed that the BBC Two phenomenon will end after series seven.

Speaking at the BAFTAs on Sunday evening, Knight revealed that the series will bow out after three more series.

Rumours that the series’ creator would continue on until its seventh season had been swirling in recent times, but with no confirmation by the head honcho – until now.

Fuelling such rumours were indications from Knight that his all-star cast were all quite keen to continue to show until the bitter end.

“We’ve talked to Cillian Murphy and he’s all for it, and the rest of the principal cast are in for it.”

During Sunday evening’s interview, Knight also acknowledged the potential for a Peaky Blinders film.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Knight said: “We’re getting approached to do all kinds of things – the ballet, the musical… and the movie would be great.

The powers-that-be behind the Peaky Blinders series have also recently informed us that the most recent season will be directed by an Irishman.

Season five – which is currently being shot – is at the hands of Dubliner, Anthony Byrne.

Byrne’s previous recent credits include Butterfly, a three-part drama starring Anna Friel for ITV. He also co-wrote and the directed the thriller In Darkness that starred Game Of Thrones‘ Natalie Dormer.

Season 5 of Peaky Blinders is due for air on BBC Two in 2019.
