The film has since become a cult classic.
Another weekend over.
The weather is set to be miserable tonight, in case you didn’t know.
So cancel those plans, throw off those glad rags, and settle in for a chilled out night in front of the telly.
Here’s JOE’s top picks of the movies on TV this Sunday (10 April).
The Maze Runner & The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials – E4 – 6.35pm
A double bill of films from that glorious period when everything was a bit like The Hunger Games.
We Bought A Zoo – Film 4 – 6.40pm
The Ronseal of film titles; exactly what it says on the tin.
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw – ITV2 – 8pm
You have to appreciate the series going “We know you just want to see Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson, so here they are beating up Idris Elba with none of the other cast.”
Deadpool – Film 4 – 9pm
The Merc with a Mouth’s first outing.
For A Few Dollars More – ITV4 – 9pm
A Fistful of Dollars just wasn’t enough for our Clint.
Scanners – Horror Channel – 9pm
A mindblowing (see what we did there) horror from the mind of David Cronenberg.
Bridget Jones’s Diary – RTÉ 2 – 9.30pm
Possibly one of the best adaptations of Pride and Prejudice ever put to film.
Harold & Kumar Get The Munchies – Comedy Central – 10pm
If you watch this, you’ll end up getting a burger from your local chipper tonight. Trust us.
While We’re Young – Great! Movies – 11.10pm
Ben Stiller and Adam Driver star in this Noah Baumbach directed dramedy about two couples in New York.
Out Of Sight – BBC One – 11.40pm
Our top pick for tonight is one of Clooney’s coolest, and is nowhere near talked about enough.
Steven Soderbergh (Ocean’s Eleven, Magic Mike, Erin Brockovich) directs this crime comedy about a bank robber looking to hit one last score after breaking out of prison.
The film was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay at the Oscars, and it’s easy to see why. Well worth your time.
My Cousin Rachel – Channel 4 – 12.35am
Boy meets girl, girl may have murdered boy’s cousin, boy falls in love anyway.
LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
