A sequel to the movie is out in cinemas this weekend, meaning there is no better time to catch up with the original.
Need a movie to watch this evening? Well, Prime Video has just added a number of big films, including one of the most underappreciated films of this decade.
However, for more options, here are the movies on TV tonight.
Titanic – Film4 – 9pm
The first movie to gross $1 billion at the box office.
Red – Legend – 9pm
Brian Cox stars in this thriller, alongside the late Tom Sizemore, as a reclusive man who seeks revenge after three troublesome teens kill his dog.
Hell on the Border – Turner Classic Movies – 9pm
David Gyasi, Frank Grillo, Ron Perlman and Zahn McClarnon star in this 2019 Western.
John Wick – ITV4 – 10pm
Our pick for tonight is this 2014 movie which, like the aforementioned Red, centres on a man out for revenge after his dog is killed. However, in this case, the man is a retired legendary hitman (Keanu Reeves) and the person (Alfie Allen) who killed his dog is the son of a vicious Russian crime boss (Michael Nyqvist).
Already featuring a great story hook, John Wick’s brilliantly choreographed action set pieces captured in muscular, long single takes not only helped revitalise Reeves’ career but the action movie genre itself.
On top of this, the film’s unique mythology – depicting a criminal underworld full of distinct rules and rituals – would go on to be expanded on in sequels that up the ante.
The latest of these, John Wick: Chapter 4, is out in cinemas on Friday, 22 March. As such, what better time is there to watch the original?
Cult of Chucky – Legend – 10.50pm
The seventh installment in the killer doll horror franchise.
Gold – AMC – 11pm
Matthew McConaughey stars in this 2016 movie as prospector who hunts for gold in Indonesia.
Exit Wounds – Turner Classic Movies – 11.20pm
DMX and Steven Seagal star in this 2001 action thriller.
Speed Kills – Sky Sci-Fi – 11.25pm
John Travolta plays a wealthy speedboat racer who leads a double life that lands him in trouble with the law and drug lords.
Not a sci-fi despite the channel it’s airing on, Speed Kills holds a 0% score on Rotten Tomatoes so it’s probably best to avoid it.
