A Michael Caine classic is among the movies on TV tonight

Stephen Porzio

One of two offerings on TV tonight featuring the star.

It’s only two more sleeps to St Patrick’s Day.

To make the time fly quicker, why not kick back with a good flick on the telly this evening.

Here’s your options on Tuesday, 15 March…

The Dark Knight – Sky Showcase – 9pm

Currently being re-discussed given the new take on Batman currently in cinemas, The Dark Knight is one of two films on the box tonight featuring Michael Caine.

Meet the Parents – Comedy Central – 9pm

Robert De Niro shows off his comedy chops in this fun movie about the horror of meeting your girlfriend’s parents.

The Bourne Legacy – ITV 4 – 9pm

The one without Matt Damon.

Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein – Horror Channel – 9pm

With two movies from filmmaker Kenneth Branagh now in cinemas – Belfast and Death on the Nile – perhaps now is the time to revisit his take on the classic horror novel.

Branagh himself plays scientist Victor Frankenstein, while Robert De Niro co-stars as his monstrous creation.

Taken 3 – Film4 – 9pm

The last and probably worst Taken movie.

Magnum Force – Turner Classic Movies – 9pm

Clint Eastwood returns in this solid sequel to Dirty Harry.

Monsters and Men – Film4 – 11.25pm

In this American drama from 2018, tensions rise when a young man records a police officer shooting a black motorist in a New York neighbourhood.

John David Washington, Anthony Ramos and Kelvin Harrison Jr. star.

Get Carter – Turner Classic Movies – 11.35pm

Our pick for tonight, this ’70s crime thriller sees cold-blooded London gangster Jack Carter (Michael Caine) travel to Newcastle to investigate after his brother dies under mysterious circumstances.

Dark, gritty, tense and featuring a commanding central turn by Caine, Get Carter has gone on to be considered a cult classic, even being cited as an influence on later projects like Life on Mars, The Limey and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
