A nail-biting Denzel Washington thriller is among the movies on TV tonight

Simon Kelly

It’s the perfect Monday night movie

We’re off to a pretty dreary start to September and the longer nights are closing in, meaning it’s the perfect time for some movies on TV this evening.

There’s some great options tonight, but our pick of the bunch is a nail biting tense thriller – Unstoppable.

The 2010 action thriller stars Denzel Washington and Chris Pine as a veteran train engineer and a young conductor who team up to prevent catastrophe as an unmanned freight train laden with toxic chemicals races towards a city.

Unstoppable is the last film directed by the late Tony Scott, brother to Ridley and director of hits like Top Gun and Man on Fire.

The flick released to positive reviews, with many praising its thrilling set pieces and how it embraces a simple plot for pure entertainment purposes.

It holds an impressive 87% on Rotten Tomatoes, which shows the action thriller can live up to the best in the genre and is undoubtedly the perfect Monday night film.

If you’re looking to catch Unstoppable on TV, it airs on ITV4 at 9pm tonight.
