Dead To Me Season 2

Great news for fans of the dark comedy.

With all the furore over Game of Thrones and Chernobyl in recent weeks, it might have been easier for some other shows to fall through the cracks, but if you haven’t seen the wonderful Dead To Me on Netflix, you’re in for a treat.

Produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay (Anchorman and Step Brothers), the series is about a powerful friendship that blossoms between Jen (Christina Applegate), a tightly wound widow, and Judy (Linda Cardellini), a free spirit with a shocking secret.

Jen is determined to solve her husband’s recent hit-and-run murder, while Judy has also recently suffered her own tragic loss. When the two women meet at a support group, they become unlikely friends despite their polar opposite personalities.

Since being released, the show has proved to be a hit with critics and audiences alike.

At present, it holds an 87% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

In their review, Variety said that it’s “undeniably exciting to see Cardellini and Applegate, two rock-solid TV veterans who have rarely gotten roles worthy of their skills in recent years, play off each other and rip into material that asks so much of them” while Rolling Stone said: “Dead to Me’s later episodes try to lean on character drama whenever possible, and Applegate and (especially) Cardellini get some strong moments as various truths come to light.”

After the first season proved to be a hit, fans will be delighted to know that Netflix has ordered a second season of the dark comedy.

Fans who have seen the first season won’t exactly be surprised that there’s a follow up, because there are a fair few questions that still have to be answered.

As for Season 2, Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini will both return as Jen and Judy respectively, while series creator Liz Feldman will return as showrunner.
