Pierce Brosnan has named who he thinks should be the next James Bond

Pierce Brosnan James Bond

“You need an actor who can put a bit of wiggle into it…”

It’s 16 years since Pierce Brosnan’s last outing as 007, but that doesn’t mean the man can’t give his opinion on all things James Bond.

The actor had previously admitted to struggling to move on from the iconic character, noting that it took him years to make peace with MGM’s decision to look for new blood.

Having given Daniel Craig his endorsement to keep playing Bond until he’s had enough, the Navan man has now had his say on who should step into the famous tuxedo in the future.

Brosnan played Bond a total of four times between 1995 and 2002, clocking up adventures in Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough and the completely bonkers Die Another Day.

In a new interview with the Mail on Sunday, Brosnan praised Craig’s work so far, noting that he’s been an “incredible” Bond.

“He’s very physical, he looks lethal,” Brosnan said. “You genuinely believe this is someone who could kill a man.”

Brosnan, most recently seen on Netflix facing off against Jackie Chan with a character that has more than a hint of Gerry Adams to him, suggested that Craig will move on after one more outing as Bond.

His choice for who comes next? Tom Hardy.

“I think Tom Hardy could be a good Bond,” said Brosnan.

“I’d be happy to see him do it. You need an actor who can put a bit of wiggle into it – that’s what makes Bond.”

Fans will have to wait for what appears to be Craig’s final run as Bond when Danny Boyle makes his directorial debut in the series.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled than to bring the next 007 adventure to the big screen uniting the incomparable Daniel Craig with the extraordinary vision of Danny Boyle,” said MGM’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, Kevin Ulreich following Boyle’s unveiling.

Production on the currently untitled 25th James Bond adventure is set to begin in December of this year, with the UK and Ireland release currently scheduled for 25 October 2019.
