Rick and Morty, 100 years!

The brand new trailer for Rick & Morty Season 7 has dropped, which reveals the new voices behind the two titular characters. Several months back, the first trailer for the upcoming season of Solar Opposites revealed that Hollywood star Dan Stevens would be replacing original voice actor Justin Roiland.

As we reported then, this was following the news that Roiland had been charged with one felony count of domestic battery with corporal injury and one felony count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud and/or deceit.

Those charges were later dismissed by a California District Attorney due to lack of evidence, but further reports came to light, including one by The Hollywood Reporter which detailed years of his allegedly troubling behaviour.

Roiland was subsequently dropped from some of his hugely popular shows, including Rick & Morty, with many fans wondering who the replacement voice actor might be. And today we get to hear the first performances of the famous characters by those new performers:

However, Adult Swim has not yet actually revealed who the performers are. Some rumours suggested that Dan Stevens was also taking over the roles here, while others figured it might be TikTok star Sean Kelly (who does, in fairness, do a great impression of both Rick and Morty).

All that has been revealed so far is that it is actually two voice performers providing the work for Rick and Morty, as opposed to just the one, which was the case when Roiland performed both roles. Additionally, a source told The Hollywood Reporter that “We want the show to speak for itself. We believe in the strength of the season and our new voices and we want to preserve the viewing experience for fans.”

The seventh season of Rick & Morty debuts in the States on 15 Oct, and we usually get the entire series added to Netflix in Ireland and the UK once all episodes have aired, so we should get it in early 2024.
