Robert Downey Jr. has teased a return to his role as Iron Man

Rudi Kinsella

Robert Downey Jr Iron Man

He has teased returning to the role twice in the past week.

Interviews must be very frustrating for Robert Downey Jr. at the minute.

He is currently promoting his new movie Dolittle (which is getting … underwhelming reviews), while also being constantly asked about a return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The price of being in one of the most successful movie franchises of all time, I guess.

And it probably doesn’t help that he continues to fan the flames of a return to his role as Iron Man.

In an interview with Today, the face of the MCU was asked about a potential return, to which he replied:

“I am so pleased, just that, I wound up where I have. I’m very fortunate so, I’m not the kind of guy who – I want to try to keep it classy. We’ll see.”

We’ll see, eh?

He was also asked by ExtraTV whether he would be willing to make a return, to which he responded:

“Yeah, anything could happen.”

Vague, if not slightly optimistic.

He went on to say that in his head he has “hung up his guns for good”, and that he is excited to work on other projects, but that nothing can be ruled out.

A return to the role would almost guarantee box office success, but with everything wrapped up so well in Avengers: Endgame, we’re not sure whether it would be the best idea.
